Kathryn Bigelow‘s next feature has a title and fall release date from Netflix.
The streaming service announced Wednesday that the Oscar-winning filmmaker’s forthcoming project is the political thriller A House of Dynamite, which will hit select theaters in October before its Netflix debut on Oct. 24. Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson star in the film that has a script from Noah Oppenheim.
A House of Dynamite centers on a single missile being launched at the U.S. and the process of determining who was responsible and how to react.
Gabe Basso, Jared Harris, Tracy Letts, Anthony Ramos, Moses Ingram, Jonah Hauer-King, Greta Lee and Jason Clarke round out the ensemble cast. The film also includes appearances from Malachi Beasley, Brian Tee, Brittany O’Grady, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Willa Fitzgerald, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Kyle Allen and Kaitlyn Dever.
Oppenheim, Bigelow and Greg Shapiro serve as producers.
Bigelow’s previous features include Detroit (2017), Zero Dark Thirty (2012) and Point Break (1991). She won the Oscars for best picture and best director for her 2009 film The Hurt Locker, which nabbed a total of six wins at the Academy Awards. The Hurt Locker stars Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie and Guy Pearce in the story of a bomb squad during the Iraq War.
