Blake Lively, Anna Kendrick Return

Murder and betrayal are back in play as frenemies Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick reunite for an extravagant wedding in Capri, Italy in the trailer for Another Simple Favor, director Paul Feig’s sequel that dropped on Monday.

Emily Nelson (Lively) is out of jail and set to wed a rich Italian businessman, leaving mommy vlogger Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) wondering what’s up as she’s asked to be her maid of honor. “You think I want to make you pay for stealing my life,” Emily asks Stephanie at one point in the trailer as they jet off to Italy. That’s after Emily went to jail at the end of A Simple Favor, and Stephanie, moonlighting as a private detective, helped put her there.

“I got to figure out what she’s up to,” Kendrick’s mystery-solving character says in the trailer, especially as her Spidey sense twitches over Emily’s swarthy Italian husband-to-be, played by Michele Morrone, and a host of other wedding guests and party-goers in the lead up to the lavish nuptials.

Amazon MGM Studios will release the sequel to the 2018 original thriller to Prime Video streaming platform on May 1. A Simple Favor grossed $97 million at the global box office and has steadily reached camp classic status as audiences flocked to the movie on streaming.

Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Elizabeth Perkins, Michele Morrone, Alex Newell, Henry Golding and Allison Janney are also among the cast. Another Simple Favor, coming in the wake of star Lively’s ongoing legal battle with It Ends with Us director Justin Baldoni, opened the 2025 SXSW film and TV festival.
