2025 Emmys Host Nate Bargatze Nominated for Emmy Award

Nate Bargatze’s job as the host for the 2025 Emmys just got a little more tense after he turned comedy gold into two nominations for Your Friend, Nate Bargatze.

He will contend in outstanding variety special category for his third stand-up show on Netflix, as well as for best writing in a variety special. The family friendly comic in April was unveiled as the host for the 77th Emmy Awards ceremony in September.

Bargatze will face stiff competition in the outstanding variety special category at the Emmys with four other Netflix specials — Adam Sandler: Love You,  Ali Wong: Single Lady, Sarah Silverman: Postmortem, Conan O’Brien: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize For American Humor – as well as Hulu’s Bill Burr: Drop Dead Years.

Bargatze is known for his deadpan style of family friendly stand-up comedy. He has multiple stand-up specials and hosts The Nateland Podcast. In December, CBS aired Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas variety special.

Bargatze’s fourth stand-up special — he did Nate Bargatze: Hello World for Amazon’s Prime Video — saw him finding humor in pizza-ordering strategics for a guy’s night out, wanting a second dog and relying on his responsible wife.

The special was directed by Ryan Polito, and executive produced by Bargatze, Alex Murray, Tim Sarkes and go-to producer John Irwin, whose John Irwin Entertainment is also the production company behind it.

In Oct. 2024, Bargatze hosted Saturday Night Live for the second time, with musical guest Coldplay. He also continues to be in heavy demand across the entertainment landscape, including with comedy concert touring. In 2024, Bargatze was the highest-earning stand-up comedian, according to Pollstar, having sold 1.2 million tickets.
